'He loves being outside, but he's also terrified of it. The smallest of things will scare him inside, a light rainshower, a swallow. And yet those very same things can be what draws him to go outside in the first place. Some days are better than others, and then some days he doesn't even seem to notice things outside that would otherwise fascinate or scare him. And then sometimes he just sits at the window for the entire day doing god knows what until I just want to kick him through the bloody thing.'
